OK, I am totally going to find a way to work this into the next sci-fi book I write – a farm that’s 30 stories tall (give or take.) There’s a professor trying to get funding for an experimental structure.
The concept is complex but also elegant. You stack your farming areas on top of one another. Everything is enclosed. Using hydroponics and recycling systems, you use far less water and soil than a conventional farm, and take up much less space on the ground. That and you can grow crops at any time of the year, regardless of weather conditions.
